The Amaryllis Box

A few weeks back a friend mentioned she was going to add Amaryllis bulbs in preparation for Christmas.  I decided to do the same but I needed something festive for the bulbs.

This led me to building a themed box that could be used as a base for Amaryllis bulbs.
Then I wondered how this plant got its name which took me to Google.   It’s interesting how one idea can inspire another.

When I uncovered the story I reflected further to a time when I introduced Greek Mythology to our kids; I should have really remembered this story.  They were both fascinated with different views throughout history.

Patty’s Plants had a great explanation.  Link >> The Legend of Amaryllis Hippeastrum

After a few hours passed in the workshop I came up with a couple fun box ideas.  You can use these boxes for more than just Amaryllis bulbs, they would make perfect gift boxes.

Christmas was kicked off this season with the Amaryllis box; it’s going to be fun sharing these boxes with family and friends. What would you do with an Amaryllis Box?

What a beautiful box. Amaryllis a so fun to grow inside where I live this time of year. Last year one of my friends gave me a white one in a blue pot. Just a little different and it was beautiful but I do love the red.

    1. I was thinking I might do one with a stain finish later, I have a lot of fun building. Blue pot with white I love that! I really need to get moving with Christmas – but I still have fall on the brain. Perhaps after Thanksgiving.
