Make your Own Homestead Book

Make Your Own Homestead Book

Starting a homestead or farm from scratch can be intimidating but it doesn’t have to be.  The process normally begins with, “what do you want to do?”  I remember that day like it was yesterday. Our list was long, we had four people with ideas and where to focus that energy was difficult.

Once we began to research it was clear we couldn’t do everything because four acres just didn’t stretch that far.

With that being said we had to analyze the situation which took us on a journey to learn how to work small acreage correctly and we ended up doing a lot more than we ever dreamed and the results were amazing.

The Homestead Planner Printables

It was time to bring those practices forward in the way of printables so others could pick and choose possibilities that match their interest.  Each one is written in an easy to follow format and walks through the process of establishing a homestead or small farm.

Whether you have 1 acre, 10 acres or more these printables are designed to guide and teach in away that is often overlooked.

I’d like to recommend beginning with our easy to use planner pages, these were designed to complement your entire journey.  Print as often as you like and store in a three-ring binder.

Add additional homestead printables to your book that specialize on topics that guide those homestead dreams.  Each month new printables will be added to our store, very similar to our Make your own Garden Book series which has also been helping many folks with their gardening journey.

Rustic Fencing Begins

Learning how to work the land without skipping steps is where I put great emphasis.  Too many times I see new homesteaders skipping simple things like stretching fence wire, for no other reason they didn’t understand it was necessary.  I’ve shared fencing details from choosing materials to actual install.

Homestead fencing is one of my least exciting activities but it’s also the most important if you plan to raise animals and have a garden protected from predators.

Clearing the Creek Bed

Even if you haven’t found land and homesteading is just a dream on the horizon I’ve included how to find that perfect piece of land without the help of a realtor.  As a matter of fact, the last thing you want to do is contact a realtor because they’ll simply tell you everything you don’t want to hear.

The Make your own homestead book is an opportunity to get back to the land, learn as much as you can before diving in and create a reference book  you can use every step of the way.  With this book  you get to decide what goes inside and one day pass down to the next generation.

Nobody knows what the future holds and wouldn’t it be great to have your very own homestead book handy just in case?

What a great idea! This would be especially helpful to young homesteaders, so they can see their progress through the years.

Homesteading was a dream for us too but we turned it into a goal and when I turned 40 we found ourselves on a farm. Never give up and the best printable to start with is finding land. Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend.
